Jaggeezz unfortunately, you are actually incorrect. What makes a 347 is a 3.4' stroke with a 4.03 bore. a 342 stroker is actually a 347 but with a stock bore, I should know =) plus with a 3.4" stroke u need to clearance the block, so the rods dont hit =(

so u saying for the money you might as well get a 351W and rebuild it.Will the 351w mount up to a t-5 tranny. So would a 351w have around the same hp as the 347 stroker.

If you are starting out with nothing, no intake, no headers, just a wore out 5.0 then yes a 351 is the way to go. If you already have a good intake and exhaust then you are going to have to spend that money all over again. The 351 block is better than a 302, so you will have a stronger foundation to work from. Also to keep your current acessories you are going to have to buy different brackets. How fast are you trying to go anyway?

yes the rear main bolts right up to a t5 tranny, and the 351w will have more hp and torque than the stroker (347 or 331)

you could say that, but if a stroked 302 makes the same power as a stock 351, why would u want the extra weight??

To use a 351W engine you'd need the following.......
Headers
Oil Pan
Intake
Distributor
And that's just the stuff that comes to mind..
So it's not really a just 'slam it deal'
I think that a 351W complete is about 50# heavier than a 5.0
Also, could somebody tell me why a 351W block is 'better'?
