Ok, so i set my valves today after doing my H/C/I swap, got it all put back together, and started it up. I set the idle and instead of having a steady idle it surges back and forth. Like it will drop down to 500 RPM and when its almost about to die it shoots back up to like 2000, and back and forth.

Problem #2, there is a sustained humming noise coming from the motor. it will come and go, at no certain rpm range, but when it is doing it, the motor will "hum" for 10-15 seconds. its a wierd noise to describe, kinda like when the bearings go out in a smog pump, or something like that.

Problem #3, there is a very loud "chatter" noise that is constant when the motor is running. Are these just the roller rockers? I have heard they are loud, but it is extremely loud and i dont want to run the motor if there is something wrong. Any ideas/suggestions?

#4 there is alot of smoke coming from the motor, is it just residual oil spilt on the headers from the install, or blow-by, or maybe my PCV isnt hooked up right. I only ran the motor for like 2 minutes?

P.S. the timing is not set, it is just close to where it needs to be until i can get a light on it
