ive never heard of anything like that messing an engine up. i know that certain types of antifreeze will do that... i think its switching form green to red. one has a different chemical for freezing and boiling points.

This is false.... read amsoil's website on synthetic vs. conventional oils. There is data testing to prove that synthetic oil will not deteriote the performanceof an engine or make it leak. The difference in synthetic oil is the conditioners used will rid the motor of oil buildup and deposits left by conventioal oil, thus testing how well the seals and gaskets have held up over the years.... its not the oil that makes the motor leak... its the motor!

i changed over from conventional to synthetic. I had a slight oil leak from the main seal and when I changed over the oil leak slowed down a little, not gone but slower. When I changed I was doing a lot of high way driving and I noticed that the car ran cooler, quieter, and I got about 3-5 miles per gallon above what I was normally getting...averaged 18 mpg after the switch. You should not have any problems from changing. Once you have gone with synthetic, you cannot go back to conventional without causing problems but from conventional to synthetic will make the car run smoother and better. I will never run anything else in my cars again.

I was always told it was a good idea to flush the motor first when you change over rather than just dumping the dino oil out and tossing in the synthetic.

I ran RP in my 93 GT after 84K of regular oil and had not one single problem. No leaks, etc.
