header/steering problem.....
Someone has had to have run into this problem, let me know how to fix it......
I installed some BBK equal length shorty headers into the ol 5.0. It was an 88 LX 4cyl previously, but it has been converted over to the 302. Anyhow, once i installed the headers, there's this horrible rattle in my steering because of the headers rubbing my steering rack (the bar that comes from the firewall to the axel). Previously, someone told me to put washers under the motor mounts to get enough clearance, but then it just felt off balance and was messing with the feel of the tranny when you went to 2nd gear..... so here i am again, seeing if anyone else has seen or heard of this problem...... Everone else seems to not ever have a problem after they are installed, it's just getting them in, as usual..... any help??????????
PS/ rattle goes away if you lift up hard on the steering wheel or accelerate hard enough to twist the motor away from the drivers side.

RE: header/steering problem.....
ive never heard of anyone having any problems with washers under the motor mounts. I guess step two would be replace the stock mounts. You sure as hell cant move the headers, and rerouting the steering column is going to be a pain in the ***.

The only thing I've ever seen done is people notching th column slightly where they rub. Other than that I don't know if thee's much else you can do. I actually have the same problem right now, but it's barely noticeable.
