Default heating question

Has anyone ever used a 12v car heater instead of the stock one. I'm thinking of getting one so I don't have to change the heater core (pain in my butt) but I don't know how well they would work. I bought the car w/ the heater bypassed and I'm not sure if it works or not. I'm gonna try it one of these days but I was just wondering about these 12v heaters let me know

dont bother reconnecting the heatercore unless you replace it because the only reason to get rid of it is because it was leaking
if im not mistaken the heatercore helps disipate a small amount of engine heat so it wouldnt even be removed for performance reasons
