TFS install, LESS power than before!

RE: TFS install, LESS power than before!
In your sig it says you have track heat but in the begining you said that you have twisted wedge. Which is correct? Pull your plugs and look at them. It sounds to me that you are running way to rich. If the timing was able to be set at 14 the distributor was put in correctly. What cubic inch is your engine? My guess would be some tuning on the fuel pressure and the upper needs to be changed to the track heat.

my engine is a 302. well, I have the twisted wedge heads, but I put the .600 lift springs on there. which makes them track heat heads, they are double springs. that is the only difference between the track heat and the twisted wedge. if I changed the upper, that might take away more from the bottom end. I dunno, have to see how my funding is. OR....if you guys know of a track heat upper that is for sale in your area. that might work. I talked to trickflow, and the guy said that I would give up alot of bottom end because of the cam. its a 2500-6000 cam, plus I have it nstalled 4* retarded. which moves the power band up 400 rpms. that would make it 2900-6400 cam. the guy also told me that if I brought the timing back to 10* or 8* it would pick up more bottom end. I am going out of town for work tommorow morning, but when i get back I will change the timing and check the fuel press, and my plugs. see if i am indeed running rich. if I am I will just wait till I get the chance to go have my chip retuned. I will let you guys know what I found out later on this week if you'd like me to.

That's why I was asking about the heads is because of the springs, good call. I was trying to find a track heat upper myself and couldn't so I bought a new one from Summit, it was about $270.

i see. The guy from trick flow said that intake would n't help my low end, it would only help the top end more. Which from the name most people would know that. I think I am going to stick with the one i've got for now. Until I build my 331 or my 392 Stroker in the future. Then we'll see if I am still lacking down low. OH! thats what she said. D'oh! [smsmiley5.gif] aight ya'll, I am headed out to work. I will check you when I get back. i'm Rick James Bi*ch! hehe

Well... I would definitely check to see if you're running fat... also have you checked the gap on all of your plugs??? The 30 pounders on there was crazy overkill for your old setup, and is still questionable at this point, but it shouldn't be a real issue now as long as it's tuned right... Good luck, and be sure to keep us posted.
