Default Ac Delete Contemplation...

Okay guys... I got to thinkin tonight(which is a scarry thought) but I really never use my ac, in either of my cars... I dunno i just love cruisin with the windows down wether its 100 degrees or 30...

So im startin to think why not just take away all that usless air conditioning crap?

So starting to contemplate a ac delete here is the plan im starting to put together...

Im winging this but here i go.. Take out the ac compresser and it gets replaced by a tensioner, at the same time i can put underdrive pulleys on the other accessory(well actuly just the power steering i think because i dont want to underpower my alternator) but anyways then all the Coolant tubing gets removed, the electronic wiring, that little ac radiator, all the coolant is gone; then all the ducting that goes to into the cabin(just the ac piping i still want heat), all the sensors, and replace the mounting plate with a alumn. one and bam!

Ill have dropped a hundred pounds easily right??? plus it will free up 2-3 hp with the lack of a compressor correct?

Worth the work? I really dont care about the lack of AC, i can drive lucy(my escort) on a really hot day...

not sure if its the same as a fox body but..

you should do all that and buy the power steering relocate kit that moves the power steering up where the ac compressor was so the belt can run in a useable pattern. will have to get shorter belt=easy to figure out

i think it would be worth the work especially if you dont really use it.

First off, the answers you will get from the fox owners will confuse you. Ford re-designed the accessory system for the Sn-95's You can safely eliminate the smog pump AND a/c without using any elimination brackets, tensioners or anything of that sort. You simply need a 80.5" 6 rib belt of 805k6. Go ahead and drop as much weight as you can since it all helps. With regards to the underdrive pulleys, they really are not worth the effort, I changed mine out when i dynoed my car and i literally got a 1hp increase..... 1 hp.. wtf is that.

Sounds good, only question is i have to keep the smog pump... MD = Emmissions Testing(exhaust emmissions testing and everything not just visual) so i cant just rip that smog pump off [:@]; **** the ozone layer... Anyways can I still rip all the ac **** out and just get a little bit smaller belt? anyone done this/ have a walkthrough?

i dont know how different the ac system is in a sn95 from a fox body but the ac only weighs about 20lbs. the condensor is 1lbs and the hoses dont weigh anything. not sure what the parts in the car weigh since i still have those. i deleted my ac and ps and lost about 50lbs

I just did it on my car its like 10lbs. Its a pain in the *** to take it out. Go to a Auto zone or pepboys they sell the book on how to do it. Its like $20. Have fun man, Im the same way I never use the A/C.

well for 20 bucks, i can drop like 30ishlbs, open up a few horses, and make my engine bay alot cleaner and easier to work in, i think it would be worth it, not to mention i would think that the ac radiator would be like 10 lbs alone when filled, or did you guys not take it out... then you have the condenser ~ 2lbs, compressor ~ 5lbs then all the filled tubing and piping would be like ~15, so i guess 25-40 lbs would be accurate...

Still worth it i would guess, the only thing i lose is the option to mabye use my ac here and their...
