stroking a motor question?

RE: stroking a motor question?
not worried about it being a different block, I can get a built bottom end 5.4L short block that will handle well over 700rwhp for around $3k. Manley rods, complete forged internals. My question is if just the block itself will even fit in our engine bay? Basically what I am talking about is using a block out of a 99-04 Lightning.

You can make anything fit, but i would doubt that it would drop in like a 351w... Check prices with DSS http://dssracing.com/ on a 351w block.... keep in mind that you can get any part you can dream of for a 351... not so with the lightning engines.. IMO
You can get a 408 stroker for nearly 3K...

I read the article on the 400hp with stock cam but that is at the flywheel. take 15-20% parasitic loss and you have 340-320 RWHP. I am looking at 500 RWHP, using same numbers is 625 flywheel hp. Don't think the stock block will handle 600+ flywheel HP. Will a 2 bolt 351W handle it. I could find one of those in junk hard for nothing and have it cleand up by a machine shop.

If youre going to do that, make sure you find the right year range... I'm sure someone can also give you that info...
