Default Ignition help please!!

Ok get this. I pulled the spout plug off and set the timing to 13* Before TDC. I put the spout back in and started her up and at idle it advanced the timing to 25* Before TDC I revved it up and it dropped it back down to 13* Before TDC. I let throttle off and it jumped back up to 25* Before TDC. Now if I'm not mistaken its suppose to stay at base timing at idle and advance it when u give it throttle. Maybe I am wrong. Oh and I had the timing light going and for some reason it kept cutting out. It would be working fine and then there would be a good 2-4 sec pause before it would flash again. I had been having a problem with my car running very rich. I guess it could all be caused by bad ignition components. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated. Only mods I have are full exhaust which I doubt would have any effect on ignition.

No the timing will not stay at the base setting w/ the spout reconnected. It is controlled by the ecm at this point. As for the timing light cutting out, are you having a miss fire issue?

Yes its running very rough. When I first got the car it ran fine the first few times I started it. Then it slowly started to run rich. Then it started to be very rich. Now it sounds like its missing and running very rich. I made a vid for another post I had about the rich problem. I will put it up so u can hear the car run.

Yeah, def an engine miss. What is the condition of the ign parts. Maybe it just needs a good ole fashioned tune up.

Fairly new Accell TFI Module. Accel coil, plugs, wires and cap/rotor. The Accel stuff was in it when I got it. Didn't look to be in bad shape. The plugs look horrible. So much carbon on them they are solid black.. I am going to get new OE plugs tomorrow.

I just pulled all the plugs. They all look about the same. Very black. You can smell raw fuel on them and its a very strong smell. The plugs were not gapped correctly they were at about .060 instead of .050.
