Default AC and smog removal

Are the elimination brackets needed to pull these off or can I just yank them off and plug the remaining holes? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that you don't need them but I couldn't find the post.

I tried to remove mine without the kit and i couldnt find a belt to fit. The closest belt i could get rubbed on itself where the tensioner is. It pushed the belt down so far it touched between the water pump and alt.

Nmerril did you try an alternate routing??? I installed a short belt on my friends 88lx and didnt have any issues, ofcourse his car was already sans-AC factory, so i just bypassed the smog. There is more than one way to run the belt!

you wont need anything to delete smog, besides a shorter belt. for the ac you will need some sort of kit. most popular is the ford kit that moves the ps pump up so that it mounts where the ac used to be

Sounds good. If all I need is the AC kit how bad can it be? I think it is only 38 bucks from summit. I am going to get a few things done in the next two weeks or so. I will post up some pics when I do. I have to wait till fall break. College just cuts into fun time.
