Default what makes it a fox??
do you guys now why they are called fox bodies? i have been told a couple different things and the most recent was that the first 3 letters in the vin are FOX. is that right? kind of wierd question but just want to know lol

Its the chassis. The car is based on Ford's Fox platform which was used on many different cars.

Theres usually a digit in the vin that tells what body it is

No the vin number does not have "FOX" in it.... atleast mine doesnt

Mine doesnt either but usually a digit in the vin means something else (the body code).

Ive never decoded a Ford vin but Ive done a bunch of GM vins before and they have a body code in the vin.

They call it a fox body b/c it was base on the Ford Fairmont "FOX" body. The T-birds & Cougars also share this body.

ALL 79-93 mustangs VIN will start with a 1, designating that it was built in the US. 2=Canada, J= Japan, etc.
