IMHO, the 351M is the biggest POS Ford ever built.
Sounds to me like if you are taking vacumn form the ported source that the vac advanve in the dizzy is not working.
Just go to NAPA and get a dizzy........

oh i will...btw your HO is accurate,but this 400 has yet to let me down in pulling/towing,and mudding.

Man.. why do people hate on the 351m/400's so much? i had a 78 f-150 and i could not kill that truck.. i would beat it really hard too but that truck just kept comming back for more....they are truck motors.. meant to be torque motors. they are perfect motors for a tow rig or a woods rig... or both.

not sure if a 351w will bolt up???[&:]...need to find out.....not a time bomb is it?....how much?


i think they consider my block a 335 series...if it is it will fit...but i need torque!

i dont think it will bolt up. the 335 series blocks use the big block 428, 429, and 460 bolt patterns for the trans. you will either have to get a bellhousing that has the small block bolt pattern to bolt up a 351w. i would stick with the 400 man.. with the right cam intake and some 2v cleavland heads you will have a torque monster on your hands.... lift kit... lockers front and rear.. and some 37" tires and you will have a mud runner that will run with the best of them.. if not better.

well right now it has a 4"????33's front lockers...the heads i'm going for are the "thumper" heads for the 400
