Got a 95 Gt making over 500+rwhp, well the stock AOD-E trans didnt hold up, and now I need a new trans. Whats the best option as for performance and dependibility? Car is 100% daily street driven and never sees the track. Was thinking C4 but really like the OD on the AODE on the highway. Does anyone sell a AOD-E that will handle this punishment? Where could I get a convertor for it? Or what do you guys recommend I use. Would really like something that will withstand approx 650-700rwhp as I do plan on putting the spray on it over the winter and making some real HP #'s.

Tell us about your 500rwhp daily driven engine. Mods, etc. I'm sure an AOD guy on here can help you with the tranny question.

PA C4. They're good to 1000whp. That should hold up lol.

Its got a break to boot and they retail at like $2,000

Lentech sells a aode rated at 700hp for 2500. Obviously you have to pay for what you get. Lentech are some of the best ford autos out there. A c4 would probably be cheaper and weighs a lot less but then you would have to swap to a manual computer because c4's are not computer controlled like the aode.

+1 on the C4. You can find a junkyard one for pretty cheap and having em built will cost ya about another $600-800. Only thing that sux about the C-4's is no overdrive, so its last gear is 1:1. Or you could just get another AOD-E and get it built to withstand the power.

PS: Or better yet get yourself a Gforce T-5, and make it a manual .

A C4 prob isnt your best choice for a daily driven car since it does not maintain overdrive. The only thing you can do is get a beefed up aod-E from somewhere. I would also recommend Lentech, they make some really get tranny's. Or Performance Automatic but IMO they are way over priced and now they basically just charge for a name... Its up to you but definetly be prepared to spend atleast 2,500. Also, Lentech sells packaged systems with converters also. They cut you a little deal if you buy the converter and the tranny at the same time, its not much but its something.

Also, if you have a 95 making over 500rwhp I would HIGHLY recommend not spraying it. If your running 500rwhp+ daily you are already really pushing the limits of your block. Throw a large 150 shot on there and I guarantee you will be back on in a week asking what motor you should put it there because you blew yours to pieces. Stock 302 blocks are very unreliable after 500rwhp. Some people can run them for a long time and some people split them first time hard on the pedal, it all depends on what kind of luck you have but throwing a shot of nitrous on an already 500rwhp car is just asking for bad news. Get yourself an aftermarket block and than you can throw as much power as you want at it... just my .02.

Also, Lentechs Street Terminator is rated at 700hp and its $2,500 without tax or shipping. Than add on the price of a converter your talking atleast 3K shipped. Than they have one step down which is the street cruiser but thats only rated at 400hp and if you are making what you say you are making that will not hold up either.

Now, if you want to go with performance automatic which their prices are ridiculous if you ask me this is what they have:
Super Streeter (500hp) - $2,662
Comp (650) - $3,616
Super Comp (800) - 4,607

A C4 uses less hp to turn. And if your making 500+hp, your obviously not concerned about fuel economy to badly, so forget overdrive.

Its because they have 1 less set of planetaries to turn. As for a C4, it all depends on what his rear gear is. If hes got something steep like a 4.56 itll spin like 4k at 60 (probably an exageration, but not too far off). I still think he should just convert it to a t-5. My .02
