when the car is warmed up i have to step on the gas to start it but when it sits for a while it will start right up. when i floor it when i want to start it and it starts a big thing of smoke comes out of the exhaust smelling like gas. to tell you the truth i ran out of gas right before this started to happen and must ran out of gas 3 or 4 more times after that. what could be the reason for this.

 

is youre car fuel injected or carb? It could be getting to much fuel causes the system to flood.

 

get a new fuel pressure reg.

it is fuel injected. and to v fast. i wish i could stop running out of gas but my fuel gauge doesnt work. and the car seems so sluggish as of late. so where can i get a fuel pressure regulator and about how much do they run. i can hear the fuel pump running when i start it so i dont think its that. i thought maybe the injectors were clogged when i sucked all the dirt off the bottom of my tank and the filter is dirty.

 

If you can help it try to stop runnig out of gas because the more you run it out the faster you will burn up the fuel pump and then have to drop the tank to replace it then you can fix your gas guage at the same time

Ok well running youre car outta gas is not good for youre fuel pump is burns it out quick, I would get youre fuel pressure checked on youre fuel pump and replace youre fuel filter, as well.

 

ok ill have the fuel pressure checked and have the fuel pump checked also. hope fully ill found the problem soon. thank you all for the help you have given me. more input would be appreciated
