Default 95 GT

I have unplugged the coolant temp sesor so that the fan runs constantly to get cooler idleing temps. With this unplugged, will the car run too lean? It seems to run fine so far, am I safe going this route? Thanks for any advice.

Actually it will run rich...When you unplug the ect it will turn on the fan but it tells the pcm that it's -40 deg below zero and will richen up, also it will not go into closed loop operation

Yes and no. You should find the problem and fix it correctly!!

+1 PRO5.0SC Closed loop operation is when the comp uses all the sensors to adjust a/f. If all the sensors are not working properally the comp will not let it run correct and could harm your engine...check this site out it has a lot of decent info

plug it back up and put a cooler thermastat in it to get it to run cooler... unless the reason you did it is because it was running too warm then you need to find your real problem.

at an idle the engine would get up around 220* before the fan would kick on. Most people I've talked to said that was common on the SN95's. I have a set of AFR heads on it and would like to see cooler temps. No matter what thermostat I use, it still get to that 220 mark befor the fan kicks on.

That's b/c it's designed that way. So basically there is no problem, you just want the car to run a lil cooler correct? If that's the case, you can prolly get an aftermarket fan t-stat and wire it in to turn on the fan sooner. The problem w/ a toggle switch, or the like is you have to remember to turn it on and off.
