My car POPS through intake and that sucks

RE: My car POPS through intake and that sucks
It's more than likely an maf thing if it's only part throttle. The eec's not getting the right numbers.
I have a home made cia on my car, so I figured that maybe I should try running my K&N directly on the maf. Bad Idea! It popped and bogged worst than ever at part throttle. Mine only pops once in a while when it's cold at part throttle with the cia on.

nice ride, but what do u mean by the eec's is not getting the right numbers? and ive also change my maf sensor, before i had a k&n directly into the maf also but it bogged and popped like yours, and i changed it to the stock fenderwell filter and helped a bit, but it hasnt gone away.

eec is fords name for the computer. Hes say that there is turbulance in the air going through the maf sensor and its causing the maf sensor to put out the wrong voltage signal to the eec computer and causing the car to dump the wrong amount of fuel. It sounds like a good theory. Do you have a cold air intake or aftermarket mass air flow sensor?

check for codes first, that will tell you if anything is wrong with the computer or its sensors.
Yes I had this problem and ajusting the lash fixed it for good, but I tore my engine apart, so if you never had this issue before, or never tore your motor apart, I would look else where before adjusting the valve lash.
timing can do it etc etc

common popping,
1. lower intake manifold bolts not sequenced in order allowing in unmetered air, witha 3 step torque sequence, you cant forget that the silicone or thread adhesives bolts, require you wait and then retorqued as they provide false readings.
2.valves not adjusted properly basicly causing combution in your intake, since it has no where else to go. this can really screw your heads up.
3.dirty MAF
4. timing is too advanced or dizzy not in sync with nuber one TDC during instal.
5. Cam and Crank not in sync, creating the same effect as non adjusted valves.
6.faulty carb . older cars
7. fuel pump low pressure
