what size resistor and where ?

what size resistor and where ?
just got some smoked tailights in and l.e.d. lights for the rear... bought the l.e.d.s from a buddy and said they kept poping fuses.... i read somewhere online that you have to put a resistor in line in one of the circuits.... what size resistor do i need and wehre do i splice it into?
