Default 450 REAR WHEEL HORSE WITH THIS BUILD

Well I blew the Kevlar belt in my Powerdyne a month or so ago and the valve seals were gone in my GT 40 heads so I have taken the engine mostly apart at this point. I have changed my mind several times on what I am going to do, but at this point here it is:

306 short block with forged crank/rods, forged pistons 9:1, main girdle etc
Twisted Wedge Heads
Ford F303 Supercharger Cam 288 Duration and 512 Lift
Aluminum Roller Rockers
Holley Systemax Intake
75mm Throttle Body
80mm Mass Air calibrated for 42lb injectors
Rebuilt Powerdyne with 9lbs of boost
Anderson Power Pipe
Underdrive Pulleys
AC eliminated
2.5 h pipe exhaust with hi flow cats and flowmasters
Custom tune once done

My goal is around 450 to the wheels..I was thinking about a 331 with AFR 185 heads, but decided something slightly less potent might be more streetable.

I would guess that setup would put about around 400-430rwhp. Question though, why would you continue to go with the Powerdyne. Why not upgade to something else? Something a little more reliable?

I can get the Powerdyne rebuilt with a one year warranty for less than $400 so that is the only reason I am sticking with it...much cheaper than buying a new system....

I don't know how powerdynes specifically work, but aren't the underdrive pulleys hurting you? I know that with my Procharger, if I have underdrive pulleys then the pulley on the S/C is actually turning less than it is supposed to, and therefore I am getting less boost than advertised. You have to have the stock pulleys on there to actually get the desired level of boost.

Like I said, I don't know if this holds trus for powerdynes because I have never set one up, but it would only make sense.

I wouldnt say too much over 400rwhp BUT I have seen dyno's of 302's w/ out of the box twisted wedges, custom grind and 9psi make close to 450rwhp....

I read this post before and that is why I figured 450 horse to the wheels with that set up is about right...

Don't bother putting a forged crank and rods in a stock block. The block will break long before a stock crank and rods will. Anyone can easily make 400rwhp from a supercharged 5.0. My friend had a stock shortblock with an F cam, TFS Twisted Wedge heads, TFS Track Heat intake and a Novi 2000. At 10psi on 91 octane the car made 466rwhp through an automatic. With any real cam, it would have been over 500rwhp easily.

Do you already have the cam? While its apart and everything why dont you go with a custom grind?
