Don't set the timing past 14 degrees or you'll detonate and gap your plugs at .035 for premium gas (92-93 octane). Also take into consideration if you're using an aftermarket performance chip you might already have an agressive timing curve built in to the chip's programming if you set to 14 deg. it could also detonate, something to think about.

MIC is right about the timing setting if you already have a chip. a lot of them tell you to set the timing at the stock setting to begin with to avoid detonation and to lower it 1 degree at a time until the detonation goes away.
And you must have a timing light to set the timing dbeck002, if you don't, then don't mess with it or you can really mess up your engine.
I suggest you ask a friend who knows how to do it and let him show you how first.
