Default getting my Vic. Jrs ported

this is my first time to ever have anything ported and was wondering if $600.00 was a decent price for haveing my Victor Jrs ported to flow enough to make upto 650hp NA, wich is 100hp over the stock rateing. Thanks!

LOL dude, 650 NA horsepower on 302 cubes - no way could you do that and the car be streetable - thats over 2 hp per cube, that would have to be a race only engine - if it could even be done NA.

But yea, $600 is a good price for portwork - but what are the person's qualifications - I'd want to ensure this person is good at what he does before he starts cuttin on a $1000 dollar set of heads.

What kinda car you putting these on, and whats your setup? Anything more than a polishing job and bowl work is gonna kill velocity.

yeah there for my 408. and the shop is a hiperformance place, i dont know all the #s but the owner is Garrantying 100hp over the non ported heads. my compression is Aproxxximately 9.5 to 1 will be adding a 150 shot or 9 psi undisided, looking for a min. RWHP of 700 with the power adder. i have a super victor intake and 850cfm carb, the intake will be port matched. do you guys think 700 rwhp is in my future or do i need something else.

well with the compression you got you can run alot of nitrous to it got get you there..i got 12.5 to 1 going to spray a safe 150 to it ,,no o-rings on head,,if gaskets hold i will go to 200 then 250...im thinking if my motor is around 600 plus 200 = 800 flywheel ...i now sence i drove my car that 5 miles for break in i might have to put my 4.10 back in will try 3.73s first,, i got a 4 inch cowl hood when nos plate on it i cant run an air cleaner on it,,with the super victor intake,,will clear with byclye type filter but hitting hood ,,not getting good air flow..

Oh ok, 408 cubes, so thats about 1.5 hp per cube - much more do-able but still tough. Sounds like you've got a setup that could do it. With a 150 shot I think 700 rwhp is possible, really depends on your cam choice. You're gonna have to rev high to get that kinda power though, Im thinkin like 7k ish - that victor of course is made for that type of rev's, just hope your rods are as well.

Man it sounds like its gonna be a nice engine, good luck with it

cam specs .614/.621 248/256. nomo it is a good idea to leave room to add psi or More than 150 shot, and 9.5 compression is going to allow me to add as i see fit.

I ain't Nossy, but what is the LDA of the cam? that has as much effect on the cam characteristics as the duration.
