With the dots lined up it is correct. If you have the intake off you can see the lifter cup start to depress. If you cant see it turn the rocker nut slowly down while spinning the pushrod with your fingers you will feel resistance when you reach zero lash. You want the lifter cup centered in its travel. So zero lash + 1/2 turn should put it close. Once it is adjusted there you can still push down on the pushrod end of the rocker and there will be some more play to bottom the lifter cup. Oil pressure takes out the play in the lifter.

We tightened the rocker nut as far as it can, it ran out of thread. Ima go back tomorrow and see what i can do, i'll print out that information in that link above and take that too. It was very helpful and thanks for posting it.
But as said above, I3atR!ce has 40's and stock pushrods and all work out for him, and he has 1.7's. Maybe i'm starting in the wrong spot. But there shouldnt be any movement in the rocker should there ? Maybe we're just approaching it all wrong.

I3atR!ce, what cam are you using ?

It all has to do with the cam right ?

I'm still fairly confused on how everything works with the preload and everything, i'm totally new to all of this, but theres only 1 way to learn, and thats to do it myself, which i am. I guess i was just expecting it all to be all fine and dandy with 0 problems, but we all know thats not possible when doing this kindof stuff.
Any more input would be great. Thanks guys

Also the guy helpin me work on it is more of a chevy guy, but knows his sht pretty well. I'm prolly gonna be over there all day to try and figure this out if its raining, if not then he has to work. But hopefully we can get this straitened out. So pushrod length could be a factor here ?

Donno what the crane part # is. The paper says " This kit is designed to allow stud mounted, adjustable rocker arms to be installed on ford 302-351W engines and dodge 318 (5.2L) - 360 (5.9L) magnum engines "
I can find a summit part # if that would help
