Does it knock at idle? Does the knock increase in speed with engine rpms? How's your oil pressure?

lots of variables here. i had broke a rod in my quad 4 beretta, and it sounded like hell, especially at high R's. Did you lose any power ?

oil pressure is fine, no loss of power and at idle it is very faint, then at 1000rpm to 1500 it gets louder then at 1600 and on it goes away...what the hell?

You very well could have spun a rod bearing. Putting an a load on a engine with high miles for that long tends to do that.

One other thing ppl tend to miss is the oiling properties of a small block ford, at high rpms the oil is being pumped up top faster than it can drain back down, you will starve the engine for oil and risk damage.
