Back Pressure
Hmmpph...my '88 convertible is really doggin' it right now! I currently have nothing after my flowmaster mufflers, no cats, nothing... how much of a difference will some 2.5" tailpipes make? Right now, it is sooo slow in 1st & 2nd, and it barely throws me back in my seat...

is it an auto w/ stock gears? and it should be engine, exhaust manfold (headers), midpipe (h w/ 4 cats), mufflers, tailpipes... i've never heard of cats after the mufflers, that kinda defeats the purpose! And no those are called dumps when the muffs dump downwards and have no tailpipes.

its a 5-speed, i kno the cats aren't after the muffler, i have a different h-pipe on it... its just being a plain dog, runs fine, just slow. it even jumps quite a bit when i stomp it in 1st.

whens the last time she had a good tuneup? plugs, wires, cap, rotor, set timing, clean IAC, TB, contacts, set base idle, do you have any loose wires or grounds? how does it idle?

RE: Back Pressure
on a stock motor the back pressure will affect your lowend torque but i wouldn't think it's dog real bad, i dunno you can get a basic summit cat back for $200 if your on a budget

yeah, im really only looking for bottom-end. i want to be able to get people off the line, even though this is my DD. Not going to be takin her to a track, i just hate when Eclipses pull up and actually give me a run! I was thinkin MAC's and 3.73, sound good to you guys? I AM on a budget, I'm not even 18 yet, and am giving up my whole paycheck to this car, so i want cheap power.

RE: Back Pressure
3.55's or 3.73's will do the trick as for going trough the gears, and for exhaust how tight is your budget, if your really strapped get MAC, otherwise i'd recommend BBK, but thats just my opinion.
