Default Intake manifolds, rob you of power??

I just checked out a post here and 1 guy said that just doing an intake manifold does $hit for you? You'd have to do the heads as well? I'm lost here, i just got the Cobra manifolds and my mods are listed below. thanks

It will help you but it will not perform as it should. Your flowing more air through the stock heads now and thats not helping. Get the bigger heads so that the air flows evenly throught the heads and you'll find out what your car can really do.

Basically, every little bit helps, but it will never help as much as it could until you "fix" the next bottleneck in the equasion. You get a new intake, then you have to see what is your next biggest bottle neck... heads, TB, headers, midpipe, etc. You wont reach the full potential of the intake if you have crapy heads, then you wont reach the full potential of the heads if you have crappy headers, etc.

Not necessarily in that order, but you know what I mean. Ideally, you want go get a setup that matches as close as possible.

GSXR is right. You'll notice a small increase in power, but nothing near what it could do when mated to proper heads. I have Trick Flow intake on my stock E6's right now just cuz I was bored one day and wanted to put it on. I felt a small diff, but I'm doing a head swap soon and I'm anxious to see this sucker perform.

Eh...You'd be surprised. You'll see a gain. Just nothing that will knock your socks off. You do need heads.

Agreed with everyone. Of coarse NOTHING is going to perform at its best until all the supporting mods are done. So basically thats like saying dont get a K&n filter because your TB is still small. Every little bit helps! You should see a gain of approx. 10 hp on a stock car. But with heads, you could be looking at 20-25 (guess). Go for it, install it!

yea thats what trickflow told me. manifolds will help but anything else you strap on after that will help make it better. so maybe i'll do heads depending on what i see from just the manifolds and Tbody

If you can find a cheap gt40 or gt40P, you mightas well do it while the intake is off. You'll see some pretty good gains with the 2 together.

not to jack your thread or anything, but how would an aluminum intake be better than a regular stock one?

Well, actually ANYTHING is better than a stock Fox radiator. But an aluminum radiator usually has wider tubes. This creates a larger tube to fin contact area. Not to mention they are about 50% lighter than the stock ones.
