3.73 gears
Hey everybody, im curious to how much 3.73 gears with installation would cost. Ive got a chance to buy some heavily ported E7 heads ( my car has E6's[:@] ) that are supposed to flow better than GT40's and it would probably be pointless to have that much more power with my stock 2.73's. oh yea, im getting the heads for 100 bucks ( pair ). im pretty excited.

[&:]idk... its not like if i screw up a gear install, i can still drive it. i figure i can have one of my mechanic buddys help me ( installed a 460 in his fox ). 150 for the gears themselves, so it couldnt be over $400.
btw, i think your cars paint looks awesome. i love flat colors ( like grey primer )

Don't do it yourself...If you mess up you'll burn up the gears or they will whine...it's not worth it unless you absolutely know what you're doing. Get the rear end rebuild kit and the trac-lok rebuild kit while you're at it...More money, but it's worth the peace of mind, I'd say. As far as install, I've been quoted anywhere from 150 to 400 bucks...It depends where you go.

I had my 2.73 taken out and new factory ford 3.73 gears put in with new axle seals and new fluid for under $800.If you don't know what your doing you will hear the gears inside your car and they'll sound like crap.Do yourself a favor if you don't know what your doing don't even attempt this.....Good Luck

bullsh!t......if you get a set of ford motorsport gear set then I bet you can use the stock shims....90% of the time....that's how it has worked for me... I don't use my pinion depth gauge on other gears.....you have usesome marking stuff do look at the pattern and make the right changes for a whine free install....but a impact gun is a must!

Good deal on those heads, are they complete ? The person i bought my car off put the gear in himself and they dont make any noises or anything, and it works just fine. I've heard of shops charging mainly around 250-300 for the install. If you have mechanic friends that know what their doing, then i'd have them do it. But a 30 pack, and whistle why you work, ( or watch them work ). It'll save you alot of money.
