Short shifter is a must, my car is lacking one and its the one of the next 2 mods on my list, it lines up 2nd and 3rd gear which prevents misshifting(Very hard on your tranny) and also a shorter throw is nice in a race...

Changed from a B&M Ripper to the MGW earlier this year. No comparison. MGW Rocks. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

i don't know if mine is stock or not, its seems to work fairly well but its kinda rough i don't know if its the shifter or something else though

I don't think I have heard anybody say anything bad about the MGW shifter. Personally I went with the Hurst shifter for visual reasons. A short throw shifter makes driving the car all new fun. I got back into my mothers 02 V6 and the throw feels like it is a mile and a half long. Definately worth the money.
