I have a brand new American Thunder system. It was just installed on the car when I bought it back in Feb. The guy whom I bought the car from had not properly fitted or tightened anything so I uninstalled and reinstalled it properly. The fit and quality was very dissapointing. For example, 1 of the tailpipes has the hanger welded to the wrong side and even after bending and modifying, my left tailpipe is too close to the tire. The pipes would not center correctly no matter how hard we tried. If it wasn't brand new, I would have already installed a Bassani or SLP system. It does sound pretty good though.

SLP is not the only catback with higher quality than flowmasters, from what I've gathered Magnaflow, Bassani, and Borla should all be better built.

Its not that people hate them, its just its a common sound, and people want to be different, or out of the ordinary. Its like ricers and fart can, almost all of them have them, very few dont.

RE: FLowmasters
flows actually reduce power output of modified engines.
I had the american thunders dumped before the axle, and had a best mph of 113in the quarter mile, the only thing I changed was I put on a set of magnaflow magnapacs, and gained 3mph.
thats like 20hp.
and the flows have that annoying drone sound at 1600-2000 rpm.

Yea the LM II's are supposed to be quiter than the LM1's. The best part about being a 4 piece kit is that you can just swap out the muffler anytime you want for something else...
And yes, onyx your right.... all of those companies you listed all are great quality kits like SLP.

RE: FLowmasters
There's a site showing quite a few on a flow bench somewhere, i'll see if i can find it. Anyway the almost all of the flowmaster series came out to be one of the sh*ttiest flowing out of all of them.
So the highest power loss out of most the mufflers out there. So they sound good, but perform bad. The one that came highest was warlock something... or something warlock. I just remember it had warlock in the name. Doesn't flowtech make those?
