Default crank shaft ?

what are the + - of running a lightweight crank shaft in a street engine?

Im thinking of building a 351 dart block with a 4.000 stroke or 4.100 stroke for a street engine that revs to 6200 what strke will be better? and should i use eagle forged or eagle forged superlight?

thank you!

Nothing bad will come from running a light weight forged crank in a street car. The real question is it worth the extra cash.

The RPMs your looking to run at are not really that high....you don't need a forged crank. If your looking to do some weight reduction on your car the light weight crank is a good way to get rid of some lbs.

How much HP are you planning on having? I probably should have asked that before I said you don't need a forged crank.lol

Even on a boosted motor, a steel crank will be fine. Check with your engine builder, but I wouldn't spend the money on a forged crank....your rods are more likely to go first.

It's less reciprocating weight. For a street motor though, you should still be running steel rods. You'll probably just want to go ahead and order the heavier crank. If you go internal balance (and you should), you'll probably have to add weight to the crank anyway. And I'd stay with a 4.00 stroke.

BTW, if you're really serious about buying this within the next month, PM me. I'm about to do a HUGE buy in with Scat and I can get you the Scat cranks for cheap. They have a nicer finish than Eagle too.
