GT-40 SVO Crate Motor
Hey, I started a thread a while ago about all I could do with my stang with the 302 SVO GT-40 crate motor and what it can handle. I just had one more question I could use answered. When buying parts for it, how much different is it from the Stock Fox 5.0 HO engine besides the non forged innards. I just wanna know if when I buy parts if it'd be safe just to buy the parts designed for the stock 5.0 engine?

RE: GT-40 SVO Crate Motor
agreed, as I want forged innards, but it was between the 160,### mile 5.0 HO engine that came with it, or this Crate motor with only 27000 miles on it that I only paid 500 for and no it was not run hard. So I should be good just ordering parts as if I was ordering for the regular 5.0 HO, just keeping in mind its not forged.

why don't you just use parts out of both and build a complete badass!!! The 91 motor came with forged internals while you new motor did not. Why not just rebuild the new motor and pull parts from both motors?

Yeah, I had to trade the old one to get the crate for that low of price. Man, this thing was fried though, that engine was run hard, I didn't wanna put anything from that motor in, believe me. But yeah.

For $500, that is a great motor. You couldn't get that kind of a deal if you worked on a corner.
A machine shop can make those heads flow better and you will have a great setup. Which cam is in yours?

Thanks for your help guys, I actually got an offer for a used pair of AFR 165's, what do you think, should I just port the GT-40's or get the AFR 165's and port them a little. Let me know, you guys help me out a lot on here. What intake should I upgrade to as well. and let me know if these parts will burn up my motor cause I don't have forged innards. Thanks guys.
