Default Blown Head Gasket

My motor lost all compression on #2 and #3 cylinders. I took off the head and found that the head gasket had a chunk missing between the two cylinders. It looked like it was burned out. I couldnt see any damage to the valves or pistons so I'm gonna replace the gaskets and bolt the heads back on. I just dont want this to happen again but I dont know what caused it.

Check the head and block for warpage. What gaskets were you running?

Yeah, its a new motor. Timing and valve adjustment werent right from the time it was put in the car and it still had the custom chip in it from the last motor I had. I just took out the chip and I'll be sure to adjust valves and timing before starting the motor again. I was adjusting the valves when I noticed the blown gasket.

Given the timing problems and the custom chip, I'm really starting to think you may have been a little lean there. You sure you weren't running lean? That's a very easy way to eat through a gasket.

Yeah it smelled pretty lean. What kind of gaskets do you use with the procharger?

You're asking the wrong guy, LoL. I blew my head gasket too. But then again, it was just a stock gasket. Mine blew because I put 10 PSI of boost on an 11 year old gasket designed for 0 PSI of boost. From what I have been told by numerous people Cometic Gaskets are expensive but GREAT for boost.
