Default 5.0L short block

The short block Part# m6009b50, is that a stock 302 block? or is the compression hyped up a little. Stock HP? thanks!

It means it's a stock shortblock made from the original 302 casting. Using the stock hyper pistons with 9.0:1 compression. It has the explorer cam so it'll be more torquey but less oomph in the top end. A cheap way to get a fresh start with a motor.

that short block is same as Mustang 5.0 BUT it has an Explorer cam in it.

dont buy that, call CHP and get one of their base line short blocks.

the cam in it also gives you a non ho firing order, do what I did, just put a ho(or tfs1)cam in it

Its the 351 firing order if Im not mistaken. Ok here goes - ALL 302 blocks are the same, the difference between a HO and non HO block is the HO block has 2 little holes drilled for screws in the lifter valley for the lifter retainer (spider web). You can make a non HO block into an HO block by drilling and tapping those 2 little holes. Other variances between the HO's and non HO's, 85-92 HO and the 93 cobra ALL HAD FORGED INTERNALS, the 93-95 HO's had hypereutectic pistons. And of course cam profiles changed from year to year.

That block has the holes already tapped, it just has an explorer cam in it. You will need to buy lifters and the lifter hold down kit for it though as it does not come with that. I would not get that though as FRPP doesn't even produce it anymore, plus CHP has better products.
