with 3.08s do you run a 26 tall tire on the bottle? cause with my 4.10s i have to go to a 28 tire because it runs out of gear on 26s
What rpm are you shifting at? On my 86 I just installed 4.56's and was going to be shifting at around 5800. I'm running a 26's right now, I know I'm going to have to go into 5th but with a 28 I expected to be right at 5800 in 4th.
I shift around 5200, which is about where my power curve starts to flatten out. My 14.1 run i stayed in 3rd gear and just pegged it as hard as i could. I was shifting into 4th after the 1000' mark, so i felt i could wind it out a little bit and have it not matter too much.

ModularFox, Im planning on running 3.55's with a g-force gear set. 2.95 first gear... and some boost

should gigve me a nice buffer at the end of the track, with 4th gear

Damn hopefully I'll get my heads back from the machine shop before track season is over, see where I'm going through the traps. I'm not expecting a good time this year I just wanted to get a rough idea of what I can do with the car. I can fit a bigger then 28 in tire in the back, the car is jacked up but I really didn't want to go any bigger because it would make the 4.56's pretty pointless.

So I'm going up to mason dixon dragway on friday (some of you should come too!) with some buddies and I'm just looking for some advice...

How do you launch a stick shift? An auto I understand...but if you're revving the motor and have the clutch in how do you keep the car from rolling?

Around what RPM should I be shifting? 5,000?

Thanks guys!
Go Saturday!!! https://mustangforums.com/m_2189142/tm.htm

Ive seen foxes, do some neat little things to shred off a few tenths

0. pack of ice on top of engine
1. remove your hood.
2.remove your hatch
3. set rear tires to 20 psi and fronts to 40 psi to put weight on the rear wheel s .
4.dont over rev, only use what you need in each gear .
5. once you hook punch it.
6. relocate battery to rear
7. make your pass while car is cold not warm.
8. bump timing up to 16 degrees and run 93 octance.
9. Only have 1/4 tank or less of gas.
10. remove passenger and rear seat.
11. run car 2 quarts low on oil to reduce windage on crank.
12.remove sway bar
13.aluminum driveshaft reduces rotating mass, borrow a buddies or from someone on here, 10 min swap
