best oil for my fox?
I have an 87 5.0
I was just wondering what you guys think is the best oil for 5.0's, i know its alot of personal preference but i just wanted some ideas. I just got the car a couple months ago, not sure what kinda of oil the guy ran before me but i know its never been run on synthetic. so should i stick to non synthetic oils?
When i bought it i had jiffy lube do all the fluids and they used penzoil high milage (130,000). But now that i finally got a jack i can do it myself and have a much better selection to choose from.

synthetic all the way, if your in a cold climate use 10-30 over the winter and 15-50 for the other 8 months. w/ a 20 year old car you want the added compression from the thick oil.
synthetic pays for itself just from oil change to oil change. (longer intervals and better mpg)
i like mobil 1 , castrol, royal purple, amsoil

The best oil is clean oil.
Syn or dino is secondary to cleanliness.
I used to run Redline only, but since no one around here seems to stock it on the shelf...
I switched to Mobil 1. I find that stuff in grocery stores and Walmart too. I like the convenience.
I don't think that switching to syn should cause oil leaks. That was a known issue in the 70's or so, but it seems to have been corrected.

I've always heard that switching between non synt. and synt. is bad, but i was corrected. It cant hurt it at all, some do get oil leaks from switching, but if that happens just switch back to non synt.
I'm gonna go with synthetic for sure this time around.....I've used only non synt. oil in the whole 2 months i got to dirve the car, but now after the HCI i'm gonna go with mobil 1 synthetic. Alot of guys go with mobil 1

to correct the ppl who dont know much about syn. it lubricates alot better then regular oil + it lasts longer which pays off for the price, if you have used synthetic, i would NOT advise switching back to a non-syn. once you run a motor on syn, you may run into issues switching back. as i live in louisiana and it gets hot down here i run 5w-30, people farther up north could probably get away with 10w-30. btw i only use mobil 1 syn. and pennzoil regular.
