Default tourqe and rmp question

ok.....when i accelerate hard...my car seems to have a wierd power and torque curve....u can feel it get really tourqey in certian rmp ranges and its alot different from my friends 93.....but mine does have 3.73's......so is that normal for the power and torque to fluctuate throughout the rpm range.....i know its kinda a beginer question but i would like to know

Depends on how your powerband reacts. Get the car tuned to find out.

depends on where you live. here in houston theres a place called houston performance (website is www.houstonperformance.com) that does pulls for certain prices. Be ready to spend at least 100.

It is normal for the power and torque curves to vary across the rpm range of the engine. Since HP is a calculated thing based on rpm times torque times a correction factor, the HP curve starts low and builds steadily as the rpm increases up to a point where the torque curve drops off and the so does the HP. The torque curve typically rises faster and peaks at a lower rpm than the HP curve does and is a flatter curve near the peak torque value. Both curves cross at 5252 rpm due to the correction factor used to convert torque to HP. The torque at this point is typically dropping from its peak while the HP is still going up.
With your 3.73 gears, your engine gets up into the torque peak quicker than your friends does if he has lower numerical gears and it is the torque that moves the car from a standing start not the HP.

you can go to www.coasthigh.com and look at some dyno charts for some of their crate engines and see what the HP and torque curves look like for real engines if you have never seen any. they will give you a better understanding of how HP and torque are related to each other in the real world.
BTW, thanks for the compliments guys!

why do the 3.73's make him hit the max on his torque curve faster than stock 2.73's?

how does that work?
