Default Whats wrong

I have a 93 cobra and its a 5 speed. What should it idle at? It runs at about 1200 and I tought it was a little high! Is there a adjustment to get it down a couple hundred rpm? Also when I got the car the vacum line to the egr valve was off so I stuck it back on and the car wont even idle. Is this normal? It runs fine with it not hooked up. I wish I could tell you more about the car but the seller did not know alot other than it has some (major mods). What I do know is it as 70 mm bbk tb, BBK Full lenth, injectors upgraded, fuel pump upgraded, It suspose to have all kind of internal upgrades but heck I cant tell from the outside. I have owned 3 mustangs before and it is way way stronger than any I have so who knows what lies beneath!

you can adjust your idle, it think it should be around 800 rpm when idling. And im not sure about it not idleing when you have that vacuum line hooked up to the egr....tahts weird...

The EGR valve would appear to be bad. If when you hook up the EGR vacuum line it stalls, thats usually an indicator that it has too much flow and allowing too much exhaust gas to recirculate, in essence suffocating the motor. If you have a known good valve, like one off of another car that you can use to test it, that would be the best way.

So is there A problem with taking it off or just leaving it unplgged? The smog pump and all is gone would this be a reason. As you can tell no emessions here. I was just curiuos what it would do if it is bad or should I just leave it alone. Car does have a little fuel smell like it runs a tad rich but I think that could be to having a offroad pipe and no cats? What yall think?

Ok I have tried adjusting the screw on the tb to idle it down but it seemed not to do anything! Where should I look now? It still idles at about 1200 rpm. The temp on the car always stays at about 145 couls this be a problem for it?

it's something deeper than just the idle set screw. if you move that then the computer adjusts to where it thinks it should be via the idle air bypass. check for codes first. maybe bad ect sensor among others....

If it has a lot of mods like a new cam, heads, ported intake an gears then it will idle a bit higher than stock. That would be my guess if everything feels alright driving it. Probly just has some steep gears. There's a sticky somewhere that says how to figure out what gears u have, id just c what gear uv got b4 tryin to fix somthing that might not b boken
