i just posted this in OT but i think you guys can help me out more. ok me and my dad don't get along at all. we are too much a like. i found a steal of a deal on a stang, a 89 lx hatch with a 5.0 and 5 speed with a spare trans cause the current one slips in 2nd. its been in a chicken house for a few years, the chicken house hasen't been used in 15 years and its an open type. the car has been started ever month and crap, it has 169k miles. dosen't have a radio and no title, cause it was bought at an auction. of course it needs new paint and theres not any rust visible from the pictures. the guy wants $1500 for it, but i talked him down to $500. the car won't be driven much, if any so it won't need insurance because its going to be getting fixed up and stuff, its more of a project i told my dad and he gave me the speech that its not the right time and he dosen't want to buy a POS car and he dosen't want to pay insurance right now, but we wouldn't have to. the thing is i have more than enough money to buy a car with (i have around 10k in the bank with my money) and have plenty of money to fix it up. my dad promised that he'd let me buy a mustang of my choice and crap and stuff. any good ideas of how to convince my dad to go look at it and to get him to think about getting it? i need help because everytime i talk to my dad hes always uninterestred in what i have to say and we always get mad at eachother. for example he'll tell me that i am doing something that i am not and i'll say no i am not dad and then he gets mad cause i am back talking him and stuff, when i am very poilte and use yes sir and all that stuff and i don't even raise my voice. i probably left out some stuff but ya i just need some help, any ideals?

What are the plans for the car? With no title you are almost screwed because you can't get the car legal in your name, with it being bought from an auction I don't think you can get a new title for it either but I'm not 100% sure. IF you really have 10 grand I'd spend it on a clean stock 5.0 w/ little work that does have a title case you plan on selling it or driving it in the future. But if you do buy it and don't have a title, when you go to sell it you will have some fun because of no title.

the title can be obtianed through the state, and i know people who work there its not hard. my cousin did it. the car is really just planned to make it nice and stuff, not much needed. the guy just wants the car out of his yard so he settled for $500. good shape just needs work that the guy dosen't want to fool with. thanks for the luck cause i'll need it. any other ideals?

you can reg.. the car in main without a title over the phone through a company I use myself call Mary Staab Agency I dont have the # off hand but you can do a google.. But if you have cash just buy one with a title and it might have Mod's already

JK man. but yeah how old are you? save that money for college! or buy a decent running stang. you can find one for like 3000

dont know what state your in but California lets you title a title-less car through a 'lien-sale' also I really think you should work on your situation with your dad, and why do you need him to approve of the car? you got the money, the time, is it that you live at home? how old are you?

with $10K why not pick up a nice mustang for a little more and save the rest. No need to buy a wastebasket if you don't need to.
