I have an 88 and it wont keep a steady idle, it just dies on startup. i have to give a little gas to keep up the rpm so i can put in drive. when i put it in park after driving, it will idle just fine. whats up with this?? please help!!

adjust your idle, sounds like your idle maybe low, and check for vac. leaks.

yeah i checked for the vac leaks but i didnt find any. my idle has never been adjusted so it should be in the right spot. i may just need to double what i already have.

its starting and idleing fine now. it just needed to reset its idle. i disconnected the battery a while bck to clean it. i took it for a drive to reset the idle and it never actually did i guess. anyways im givinin up my dd so my sis has somethin to drive while my dad puts a new wrist pin in her #3 cyl. i drove the stang all day today and its fine now.
