4 cyl front springs/struts
good tires (Dr's)
5 spd get a shift kit/auto manual valve body & shift kit
port the upper intake inlet larger (or get a cobra/gt40 intake), match the TB and increase size of MAF
remove air silencer and install k&n air filter
...these aren't in any good order just what rolled off my head....

Shift 'kit' for a 5 speed? He may have meant get a new shifter for the 5 speed. One that isnt sloppy and hits the gears everytime. The shift kit would be for an auto. That will firm up your shifts since an auto is built for slippage from the factory...thats why they shift so smoothly and why they fail prematurely. A manual valve body lets you do the shifting. If you do the shift kit/valve body mods yourself, follow the instructions very carefully. A higher stall convertor may help to but wouldnt know what rpm to suggest.
An AOD isnt cheap if its break. Mine ran me $1450 for a rebuilt.

I should have known that.........it was obvious that you run faster than 14.1......
BTW, what kind of setup? I have never had mine at the track, but 12.9 is pretty much what I expect to run on spray (125) as well
