engine,tranny,gear combination questions (help)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a fresh 308 that we just put together with forged pistons, stock rods, and stock crank. I am going to run WP roush 200 heads,E303 cam,1.6 rockers,70mm TB, 76mm c&L,24 lb injectors and cobra intake. i also have some BBK equal legth headers with flowmasters(and H pipe) and a BBK fender CAI. my question is i have a buddy with a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (w/ ½” spacer) ported to match the Edelbrock 75mm TB that i could do a little trading with him on cause he wants my cobra intake before i put it on, but would that be to much with my combination?

I havent dropped in the car yet so any suggestions on what i have done so far wrong or right would be great. I am new to ford and EFI so i am just trying to put something together, still havent decided on what size stall i am going to use with my AOD

also i am thinking of going with 4.10 gears with a 225/55/16" tire on the road and a little taller tire at the track( i have a set or 3.73 and 4.30 also)anyone out there running them , if so how do you like them

performer would be better for you. it outperforms cobra's, even ported cobra's, especially if its matched to your TB. btw, there is no such thing as too much.
i would put a 2250-2750 stall in there, and the gears are good but the tire is too small. go wider with that much power. 275 in the rear, and i believe 255's will fit up front without much problem.

well, the stock EEC computer system will be able to redesign itself slightly to any changes you make, all you gotta do is leave the battery off for an hour or so, and it will "relearn" when driven again. obviously you still want to use parts that match, but your computer will adjust as much as it can to your changes, leaving a little room for error. a proper setup on these car requires an aftermarker cpu, or a plugin programmer like Tweecer, and everything that used to be mechanically adjustable on a carb'ed motor is now in computer format, waiting for your laptop to plugin and tweek

i was told i would have to get a chip "burnt) for it when i am done, thee is a place locally that some people on a local forum said would do it when i get close. without sounding to stupid, what exacally are they talking about. I was going to just rip out the computer and go carbed but i wanted to learn more about computer ran EFI cars and so far its went as planed, thank goodness the engine itself is the same, lol

don't bother with the 'burning chips' route. you have to have it redone anytime you change anything. stick with the tweecer. click here to learn more about it.

its pretty self explanatory if you know the basics on internal combustion, along with a few minor things about EFI. do a little reading on how EFI systems, specifically EEC systems work by reading this.
