Default Trans problems

Have a '93 droptop that I just had to put a new t-5 in. New trans is in car seems to be ok. Put shifter into R or 5th it doesnt do anything. Like no grinding, no engagement, or anything. Wondering if someone might be able to help.

R and 5TH both use the same lever to engage the gears, most likely that is the problem

only difference that would make would be syncros... the way i'm assuming, is that the shifter goes where gear should be but nothering happens... correct me if i'm wrong unleashed

It is all the way in gear. at least it is all the way in the location where the gear is supposed to be. The car does not move in either of those gears. There is no engagement. It just throws revs at you if you let the clutch out in those two locations.

back to my other statement it's most likely the R/5TH lever... when it's in other gears and your moving does it make any abnormal noise?

No, the car does not make any other abnormal noises when rolling in 1st - 4th.

Is there any way to make that lever work without full teardown and rebuild.?
