Default Headers & Exhaust

I finally came across a little bit of money and want to get some new headers and exhaust on me car. What is a good set of headers and mid pipe togo with? i was thinking of a set of bbk full length headers and a catless short x pipe, with most likely some magnaflow mufflers. any suggestions would be very welcomed.

you got a real good idea of what you need, thats what i run on my 87lx (BBK 1 3/4 with 3" collectors with full 3" exaust) and soon will have it on my 93 cobra (BBK 1 5/8 with 2 1/2 collector with 2 1/2 full exaust) no cats on either and i run magnaflows or hooker on everything fro muffers.

Magnaflow is cool if that's what you really want, but you can get a much better deal on some Dynomax race bullets that flow equal to or better than Magnaflow. They sound great on any V8. They're $35 each at Summit Racing.

I wouldn't go with the 1-3/4" tube size headers unless you really have made a lot of mods to make a lot more power as they could be too big and hurt the low end torque. Stick with the 1-5/8" tubes unless you have lots of mods IMO. Long tubes are a pain to install relative to the shorty equal lengths too.

thanks for the input roundman, the 1 5/8 is also cheaper, i don't think it would be too much of a hassle in my car to put in the longtubes, my engine compartment is bare as can be. it looks like it would be easy, but you never know i guess.

You want a first hand account of how much fun it ain't to install long tubes, PM Obsol3te and let him tell you about all the fun he didn't have installing his! LOL you might could find the old posts from him about it, but it would be easier just to PM him and get it straight from the horse's mouth.
