Default speedometer needle bouncing?

Ive noticed when I drive at low speeds below 30mph my needle will bounce till I get to aroung 40mph,then it stops bouncing. how do I fix it?

It' will only get worst. Annoyes the hell out of me. Some people say it's the speedo cable but my whole assembly's going bad.

I know its the cable, but what type of grease or lube do I use?

speedometer cable grease, what else? they do make this just for speedo cables so don't use anything else![:@]

my friedn ahd that same problem with his speedo in his 89 lx. he replaced the speedo cable and it works flawlessly now

i have the same problem in mine. it's a little shakey at low speeds and can drop radically if i hit a bump on the highway. mine dropped from like 70 to 40 almost instantly. I'm not sure what to do about the problem. i'm doin a little bit of research on my own. lol

I doubt it... most likely the head unit...I've had 2 do that to me in the past few years and a new/used head unit cures the issue

its your gear inside the tranny it connects to your speedo cable i just replaced mine. its probably stripped in the inside of it.
you have to order it from a ford dealership.
its easy to replace3 id recomend lifting your car though so much easier!
