Default HELP!!!!!!What to DO?????????

Ok here is what i am trying to do. I have an 87 GT. I just tore down the engine yesterday. I want to get 500 rwhp out of it so do I stroke the 302 to a 347. Or do i start with a 351, if so cleveland or windsor. Its going to be 80% street 20% strip. I also want to keep it looking as original as possible meaning when I open the hood I dont want this super enormous engine in there I want to hide all the power I can. I am also looking for some longevity out of this motor. If anyone has idea's, opinion's or anything that has worked for them I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to stroke the 302 but I just read in some magazine that a 302 wont handle that power. It is just the standard block casting number E7TE. if I can stroke a 302 is a truck block any better. I have about 1 vote in each direction so far so nobody's really helping yet

I think we just answered this one.....351W in one form or another. The standard 5.0L block will not hold that much HP for too long.

your one of the three votes man I need more feedback is the 351 block that much stronger than the 302 or is just because of the displacement?

the 351 block is a ton stronger. the general consensus is that a stock 5.0 block can only handle 450-500 HP before it fails. a 351 can handle way more than that, plus a 351 windsor will bolt into your car pretty easily, and will look fairly stock if you want it to.

the 351w is strong. It's made for trucks and big cars. The crank jornals are much bigger than a 302. The 302 is made to be light and keep some handling for the car.

The 351c or cleveland would be better for 80%race 20% street. Bad gas mileage for one. Bad low end torque for 2. Lack of components to fit to you car for 3. The heads we have nowadays
are better then the cleveland heads anyway for 4.

I like it and it makes great power,but NG for a dd imo.

THe 460 is kinda gonna give it away dont you think I want to hide the power like i said not let it slap them in the face when they open the hood. But If thats what I was going for it would defintly be the 460

you can stroke a 351 out to about 482. This can give as much as 1400 HP and a kit costs 10 grand and requires an aftermarket block with 4 bolt mains and a deck spacer plate.
