Really weird problem
I was on my way to work when my 94 cobra started to bog down or stutter in the throttle. It would only do it for a fraction of a second and then drive normal. There was about a second between each stutter. At the same time the ABS light came on and would flash in unison with the stuttering. Also, all of the gauges on the instrument panel would dash back in forth, again in unison with the stuttering of the throttle. I pulled over for a second and the stuttering stopped. I drove to work and it drove normal. As I pulled into the parking lot of my office I rolled up my windows. As I rolled up the windows I heard a faint high pitch noise and the stuttering started again. I turned the car off and went inside. I just went to take a look at it and its running normal again. I unhooked the negative battery cable, while it was running, and it continued to run. (I thought it might be a problem with the alternator) I'm assuming this is some sort of electrical problem, but I have no clue where to start. Any ideas???

RE: Really weird problem
It almost sounds like a combination of problems. The high pitch whistle or whine you hear sound to me like a vacuum leak. But as for your guages moving back and forth, I'd suspect the ECU or the connections to it, thats where Id start at least.

RE: Really weird problem
disconnecting the negative on the battery won't cause the car to die. the alternator charges through the positive and has its own separate engine ground. i would start with grounds. put the car in the air(if u can) and look for bad grounds. check the firewall grommet for the PCM wiring. something is loose or half-broken.
