That is f*cking ridiculus--I had mine put in for $300 and that included gear oil, shims, axel bearings and it included coming back in a month and having it looked at again to make sure every thing was good to go and nothing was binding! Find a new mechanic definetly!!

it is something you can do at home too. you would need to have a dial indicator though. maybe save yourself some money and learn something in the process too

thats alot! I was supposed to get charged $325... but beware for more charges. dont forget about gear, oil, install kit, etc.

My install ended up costing my $415.00. It SHOULDNT have because i got d*cked but just beware!

so blue, you got your car back, how is everything with it?

do you use a credit card? im telling you, thats the ticket man, that kind of **** is why they have dispute claims, as soon as it happened, you would have gotten a call from the shop, and i gurantee they would be kissin your *** all the way to the bank. they would rather lose a few bucks by giving you a better price for your troubles, then to completely lose on the job.

i dunno since im not the boss at our shop but our business charged a guy to put in a auburn posi and new carrier bearings and axles seals and bearings and to set it all up was 1100 bucks thats not including on what the dude paid for the posi for the 10 bolt chevy. i just couldnt see how it would cost that much but then again i dont know and depending on labor rates.

I paid $815 to have my 3.55s installed...and that was not including new Trak Loc clutches. It was done by Umberto, one of the guys who was working on that blue Mustang (the Boss 302 clone) last week on Overhaulin'. I checked out a couple of other places around here, and they were all charging over $750, so I figured why not go to a "5.0 master."
