Default MSD problem

Okay, I have a MSD ignition 6A on my 1989 Mustang GT convertible... I am using the specified TFI adapter, so everything should hook up correctly and easily... The MSD ignition does work and my car will start. But to get my car to start I have to turn the key and when I let off the key then it will start. My car does not automatically start when I turn the key like it used to. Why is this? I dont like this at all, and took my MSD ignition back off. I wonder if there is enough power going to it. like the switched on power? I am not a mechanic so keep your replyies farily simple. Please help... Thankyou

Sounds as if you have ether the switched wire or the power wire hooked up to one of the accessory wires that shuts off when you car turns over. Then when you let off, the MSD box turns on and your car starts. Does like your headlights, and a few other things usually turn off when you turn over the car (to save battery)? My guess is you got your MSD box running on one of those circuits.

Change what circuit your MSD box is running on. Or just wire the switched wire to the battery, and put a switch in the wire so you will have to flip the switch to turn on the box.

Do you have any examples though? I am not the best with mechanics, so I have to have in-depth explanations? I dont understand how I would wire it in with something else? How do I go about it?
Thank-you for your patience
