Default SD cam questions.

so.. i got a few cams that i am looking at... here they are.

Cam 1.

Cam 2.

Cam 3.

Just wondering on what your guys opinions are on these cams, wich one looks best. i should have some thumper ported gt-40 heads and a port matched explorer upper and lower, 65mm tb, shorty headers, off road x-pipe, my american thunder cat-back, and king cobra clutch and soon to have 3.73 gears i hope. so would any of these be good for a daily driver? what one will make the most power with my set up do you think, i am kinda leaning towards the crane cams compucam due to the price is a little lover and i have always liked crane cams. but if you guys think one o the other ones would be better i am really interested in hearing why. thanks guys.

at this time you would be better off just adding some 1.7 rockers

no.. it is a well known fact that ONLY e6 heads will fit the 86 block.. as far as stock heads go. they are a twisted wedge design and e7's and gt-40s will NOT clear the pistons

I will make sure I stay away from the 86's, and go with 87's and up.

i know the heads wont fit without modding the piston, i am planning on doing a rebuild on the short block. i dont think i will end up getting the 331 stroker kit i wanted due to christmas gifts and everything so i am just gonna bore the block out to a 306 and replace the pistons with ones that have the valve reliefs already in them.

and just to clear things up.. there is 1 aftermaket head you can use on the 86 short block and that is the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads but that is it, i'm not sure if you would be able to put a cam in the motor but there was a thread on here yesterday that someone emailed trickflow and they got an email back from them saying that the twisted wedge head will work on an 86 short block without flycutting the pistons.

Out of those choices, I'd go with #1. But that would really be my second choice with the first being a Crower 15511.
