losing back pressure
whats up guys
have 3" exhaust and im losing back pressure the local mustang shop said i will dyno much more low end torque if i go 2.5. But i want to keep my long tubes so i think im gonna get the dr. gas x pipe 3-2.5. Any suggestions on a 2.5 cat back system that will create back pressure but still sound loud and aggressive. any opinions appreciated

RE: losing back pressure
what motor..a 3 inch pipe is too big for a 302 unles its beefed upquit a bit or a stroker...a 2.5 is best...a x pipe will help but your losing torq, and hp with a 3 inch.. the speed shop is right

Just curious...what are you running that requires 3 inch exhaust? Because you don't need 3 inch exhaust to have good sounding exhaust.
I'm running 320 RWHP (430 RWHP with nitrous) and I don't think I can even get away with 3" exhaust.
As far as exhaust... there are many different choices and most of them will give you the effect you desire, as long as you decrease the size a bit. It's all personal opinion, really.

RE: losing back pressure
the car has trick flow twisted wedge heads with valve spring upgrades, holley systemax, n41 cam, 70mm throttle body 24lb injectors, power pipe, 92mm maf, pulleys, zex wet 100 shot
i relize now that 3" is to big thats why im down sizing to 2.5 cat back to try to help back pressure

Bigger the better in exhaust, period. Just need to adjust your fuel ratio.

Per Bassani, 3" exhausts are typically designed for high rwhp motors, typically the 3" follows the same rules as long tube headers, not needed until your around 400+ rwhp, but keep in mind a 2 1/2" exhaust will still flow 450rwhp suffieciently. ebay the 3" and buy a 2 1/2" jmo
