Default Electric Waterpump

Looking into buying an electric water pump.
Just wanted to hear from the people who have one, about which one would be good for STREET use.
I'm lookin for a NON pulley system, so then I'll be down to THREE

Also, if none of you can help with that. What do the stock pumps do for GPH wise?
Because I can just go by that if none of you know about the electric pumps.

Oh and if ya can't finger it out its for the car in my sig.

My friend had an electric fuel pump & claimed the engine ran hot. Not sure if he installed it wrong or if it just sucked. I like the sign avatar. [sm=smiley36.gif] If you get one let me know how it works.

I would not recommend one for the street as it cannot pump fast enough at higher speeds..just buy a hi volume water pump and use a hi-po stat which has a bigger ofice for h20 to flow better use a water wetter additive from redline

OH THIS IS GOOD!
besides the Moroso add on electric motor to drive a stock water pump, what other ELECTRIC water pumps you ever see with a pulley on them? hahahahaha

and most of us aren't that stupid that we don't know it's for the car in the sig either!
THUNK YOU TOO! I needed a good chuckle this morning!

Not a good application for street use. If it craps out or loses power for some reason or another you will not know it before it is too late!
Also, why do you want an electric one anyway the draw from a pulley system is minimal at best I could not imagine you picking up any noticiable HP from this

there ain't no such thing as a free lunch! at higher engine speeds, the water pump alone can take 15 HP from the crank and away from the rear wheels, more if it has a manual fan attached. and OB is our most vocal member about getting more HP to his rear wheels so he can keep up with me! hahaha

free lunch, that was good.
I realize that there is a solid amount of drag therefore resulting in HP loss but on a street application I could not imagine it being that significant, was my main point. Not getting into a pissing contest with you just explaining my reply. Trust me when I say most of the ppl on this board know more about 5.0's than I do this is my 3rd one but my last on was back in 94. (back then I knew plenty but times change and knowledge gets lost) I will ask you this though. Are all the Convertibles this friggen slow? all of my other ones were coupes and much much faster.

the convertibles weight about 200 lbs more than a coupe and this slows them down unfortunately. there is extra steel bracing in the chassis due to the lack of a roof on the verts that adds this extra weight. you can make up the difference with some basic bolt on mods like underdrive pulleys, new chip on ECU, headers and exhaust, etc.etc.

Agree with the Roundman on this one. I've been using the belt drive type pumps for at least 25 years on differant cars. Pretty consistently good for about .15 off the ET's. I would think that the 'self contained' types, Moroso, Meziere, etc wouldn't do any better and they $330-$400.
On the streets, never will work unless you never drive over 40 MPH for more than about 2 miles.
Wetter Water is a good product, I've been using it for about 10 years in everything I own, here in Arizona you need all the help you can get. Just remember the Wetter is only good for about 2 years and it IS NOT anti-freeze.
