I want to build a motor! From the block upppp.

I need to learn about some things though, i hope this thread gets large with answers!

What is a good website with blocks for sale? I'm thinking the new boss block?

What is Lift? Why is it bad to have a high lift? What is the stock lift on a 302 5.0?

well hopefully i can answer one of your questions and get this ball rolling. Lift refers to how high the cam lift is, how much it pushes the valve out of its seat. It is bad to have alot of lift on a stock motor because you will run into piston/valve clearance

this is pointless, use the search function, this gets posted once a day... go to barnes and noble and buy an engine builer book that explains how a motor works, cams, valve, clearances, etc. then utilize this new website called www.google.com and search for mustang parts and motor, you'll have more replies than brittany spears ****** had hits on the web last week.

I figured i would use the forum for what it's for and that is asking questions. Despite how many times it's been asked i rather sit on one website and get the answers from people who know.

Anyway, i want a new block. Money? No idea..im not gonna start this probably for a while..maybe not for atleast a couple years? I just want to learn alot before starting to do it?

The block depends on how much power you want to make and how reliable you want to make it. Money is also a big issue here. Are you looking for a 302 block or a 351 block?
